IICSA hearings resume next week

the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse (iicsa) will hold additional virtual public hearings in the child protection in religious organisations and settings investigation next week.. the timetable was released today: https://www.iicsa.org.uk/key-documents/20825/view/virtual-cpiros-timetable-week-3-10-august-2020.pdf .

five witnesses will testify on the jw issue next monday and tuesday, 10 and 11 august:.

- pr-a5, a victim abused by ministerial servant peter stewart;.

the latest awake (no 3 2020) on jw.org is just breathtaking, it's about prejudice and gives the following 3 examples which i will one by one attemp to debunk.. awake - some employers have mistakenly believed that women are unqualified for scientific or technical jobs.. erm... women are not only forbidden from elder or m/s appointment, they're not even considered qualified enough to adjust the height of a brother's microphone, you were saying?.....

awake - in medieval europe, jews were falsely accused of poisoning wells and spreading disease.

during nazi rule, jews were again slandered.

I notice that Lloyd Evans is giving evidence. Love him or loathe him he has a lot of info up his sleeve. Paul Gillies is a big gun, he was moved to Warwick I believe so theOrg seem to be reacting with some trepidation in repatriating him for this even if its only by zoom.

This is dynamite. There is an instruction for a set contribution per head per month for the "world wide work". The link apparently contains a multiplier that we don't yet have.

This looks like compulsory tithing to me, Where is the voluntary contribution system?

body of elder letters, announcements, and so forth will be next to "none" unless more elders decide to contact us and help out.. atlantis has lost three elders in the past two years.

two elders were disfellowshipped, and one disassociated and walk away a month ago.. when this happens receiving confidential documents is severed.

the last announcement we received was 2020-07-23. i was not about to send out a childish letter on "mold" in the kingdom halls.. there are people out there out of work and concerned about what they will eat tomorrow, and the watchtower is concerned with mold!.

Another Unnecessary Early Death

a young man in somerset in england, under massive pressure from financial and relationship issues lapsed into mental illness.

he was unlucky enough to have as his support system the local congregation of jehovah's witnesses.

one of the symptoms of his illness was the use of tobacco.

I don't blame the elders, as you say they have very little wriggle room. It's the unloving framework of pharisaic rules they work under that is reprehensible.

However, as well as being elders each of those men are human with their own consciences. We do have agency however much the ORG tries to take that away from us.
